About This Call
The Broward County Commission's Cultural Division Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission artists for two new Courthouse projects: the North Regional Courthouse Parking Garage in Deerfield Beach and the Main Courthouse Ten Courtroom Addition in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The primary objective for public art in both projects is to humanize the courthouse experience for the public and their families.
For the North Regional Courthouse Parking Garage, the selected artist shall collaborate with the architectural design team to identify appropriate interior and/or exterior locations for integrated artwork. For the Main Courthouse Ten Courtroom Addition, a new addition will be built connected to the existing North Wing of the main Broward County Circuit Court Facility to house ten new criminal courtrooms and associated interior public areas. The selected artist shall collaborate with the architectural design team to identify appropriate interior locations for integrated artwork in the new building and/or in other public areas connecting to the Judicial Complex. Integrated artwork opportunities may include but are not limited to floors, walls, ceilings, doors, dividers, and seating and gathering areas. Project scope includes design, fabrication and installation of artwork.
Artist Services may include research, interaction with agency, architectural design team and community, design, fabrication and installation of artwork, and educational outreach. The total budget for the North Regional Courthouse Parking Garage Project is not to exceed $50,000. The total budget for the Main Courthouse Ten Courtroom Addition Project is not to exceed $310,000. Budgets include research, community and agency meetings, presentation expenses, design, fabrication, delivery, installation, insurance, travel, professional quality documentation and all applicable taxes. The call is open to all professional artists residing in the United States working in any media. Application deadline is Monday, August 11, 2008 at Midnight Mountain Standard Time (MST). Submissions must include a Letter of Interest, Professional Résumé, and 10 digital images of work relevant to the scope of the project. Contact: Claire Garrett, Public Art and Design Project Manager, (954) 357-7236, [email protected].
