Bronze Statue honoring Fred Gray

The objective of this project is to commission a life-size bronze statue of Fred Gray, capturing his likeness and character in a manner that is both realistic and artistically impressive. The statue will be placed in the organization's courtyard, which is a focal point for members, visitors, and the public. Fred Gray served as President of the Alabama State Bar from 2002-2003 and was a 2022 recipient of the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. He was also awarded the ABA Medal, the highest award given to a lawyer.

Applicants must be proven professional artists skilled in the art of sculpture. The statue must measure approximately six feet and capture the likeness, posture, and expression of Fred Gray accurately. Artists must craft the statue with exceptional attention to detail and coordinate with the organization's representatives throughout the design and creation process to ensure alignment with the organization's vision. The selected artist will deliver and install the statue securely in the courtyard, including any necessary foundations or pedestals.

Entry fee is $15.00. Applicants must submit 3-10 images of their work. The project budget is $80,000.
