Brightview Innovation Center Public Art - Request for Qualifications

Brightview Innovation Center in Herndon, Virginia is seeking artists and artist teams to demonstrate qualifications for artistic enhancement across three locations. Artists can apply for one, two, or all three art sites and should specify which locations they are applying for.

Three artwork opportunities are available: (1) Mural/Mosaic – 15 feet wide x 22 feet high on the building's front facade, budget $40,000; (2) Sculpture – freestanding sculptural within a 4-foot diameter, 4-foot height planter with no height restrictions, budget $50,000; (3) Decorative Screen Wall – 100 linear feet x 4-6 feet high serving as a visual boundary for the green space, budget $60,000. The total combined budget is $150,000 all-inclusive, covering artist fees, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, permits, licenses, and insurance. If applying for multiple locations, the budget can be redistributed within the combined costs.

Commissioned artworks should celebrate the intergenerational nature of Brightview Innovation Center, reflecting vibrancy and positive life experiences. Electrical access will be roughed-in for standard spot lighting at all sites. Selected semi-finalists will receive a $1,200 stipend to develop proposals for presentation to the Artist Selection Committee. Work sample requirements: 3-10 images. Eligibility is national. Selected artists will be required to sign a Prime Contractor or Art Consultant Confirmation of Work contract with Brightview Senior Living.
