About This Call
The Brighton Cultural Arts Commission is requesting proposals from professional artists to design and install a sculpture in Carmichael Park located at 650 Southern Street, Brighton, Colorado, east of the Brighton City Hall. The city is designing and constructing a plaza where the sculpture will be the focal point.
The theme of the sculpture is to celebrate the many volunteers that serve the Brighton Community, including city boards and commissions, city council members, and service organizations. The sculpture will be of monumental size, displayed outside, and constructed of materials suitable for outdoor installation such as bronze, stone, metal, or other appropriate materials. The sculpture shall include the base.
Initial submissions are due by midnight July 19, 2024, and must include artist qualifications, prior sculptures completed, costs, and a description or drawing of the proposed sculpture. The Brighton Cultural Arts Commission will appoint a committee to review submissions and select 5 to 7 proposals for further consideration. Selected artists will be invited to an interview scheduled for the week of August 5, 2024, where they will present a detailed mock-up of the suggested sculpture including installation costs. A travel stipend will be provided to finalists. The sculpture installation must be completed by December 31, 2025. This is a national call open to professional artists residing in the United States. Submissions should include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images.
