Brand 48: Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper

Brand Library & Art Center in Glendale, California announces its 48th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper, running September 12 through October 30, 2020. Cash awards total over $4,000 including a Juror's Award. All accepted artworks will be included in an online gallery and a printed exhibition catalog. The juror is Dan McCleary, a Los Angeles-based figurative artist with 30 years of exhibition history. His works are included in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. McCleary has taught painting and drawing at UCLA and USC and was an artist-in-residence at the Getty Center in 2012. In 2010, he founded Art Division, a non-profit dedicated to training and supporting under-served youth in the visual arts.

Media accepted includes any artwork on or of paper, including collages, drawings, paintings, photography, prints, and 3-dimensional works, with paper as a visible component. Artists may submit 1-3 images. Entry fee is $30 for one entry, $45 for two entries, and $60 for three entries. Participation is open to artists residing in the United States. Entries must be original artwork created no earlier than 2017 and not previously exhibited at Brand Library & Art Center. Accepted artworks must be available between August 22 and October 30, 2020. Framed artwork should be professionally prepared for hanging. Unframed artwork is accepted but artists assume the risk of damage to exposed surfaces. Shipped artworks will be returned within three weeks after the close of the exhibition in the same packaging received. A prepaid return shipping label (UPS or Fed Ex, not USPS) and a $30 handling fee are required for all shipped work. Unless specified "NFS," all artworks will be offered for sale. The Brand Associates take a 25% commission on sales. Payment to artists will be mailed within three weeks after the close of the exhibition. A catalog of the exhibition will be available for purchase. Entry deadline is June 1, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
