Boundaries

Boundaries is a juried 2D art exhibition at Sunset River Gallery in Calabash, NC. The show invites artists to explore the limits, edges, and intersections that define our lives, identities, and perceptions. Themes include personal boundaries (vulnerability, intimacy, protective spaces), physical boundaries (borders, territories, migration), societal boundaries (race, gender, class, cultural divides), and conceptual boundaries (abstract works pushing the limits of form, medium, or viewer interpretation). The gallery seeks work that inspires conversations on how boundaries are drawn, crossed, or erased.

Sunset River Gallery is a 10,000 square foot space representing around 100 artists and fine craftspeople, serving the local and regional art community for over 20 years. The exhibition runs April 26 - May 31. Submissions are open January 1 - March 15, with jury selection March 16-18 and artist notifications by March 20. The entry fee is $30. Artists may submit up to three pieces (2D work only, representational or nonrepresentational). Work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped canvas, wired for hanging, created within the last three years, never previously shown at SRG, and available for sale. Maximum dimensions are 48" on any side. The gallery takes a 50% commission on sales. Awards include Best in Show and People's Choice (prize amounts to be determined). Eligibility is limited to North and South Carolina artists age 18 and older. The show is juried by Lynn Golitz of BluSail Golitz Studios in Morehead City, NC, a regional artist with multiple high excellence awards and publications in Our State Magazine.
