Boulder Open Studios 2009

Boulder Open Studios is seeking artists for participation in the 2009 event. All applicants, whether juried or non-juried, must apply online through CallForEntry.org by midnight, April 2, 2009. The non-refundable application fee is $40. Juried artists must submit 6 different images of pieces completed since 2006 that are representative of work to be shown during Open Studios, with the preferred image for the Guidebook placed first. Non-juried artists must submit 1 image of art completed since 2006 for the Guidebook, submitted 6 times.

Participating artists must have a year-round studio within the designated Open Studios geography. Artists must derive a portion of their income from their art and must have a minimum of 12 pieces to exhibit during Open Studios (6 for labor-intensive media). All participating artists must agree to provide an educational component by demonstrating their creative process and materials or displaying basic steps in completing their work. Artists must be present in their studio during all hours of the Open Studios event, with settings conducive to public visitation and wearing a name badge. Artists must have required City, County, and State Sales Tax Licenses and collect and pay Sales Taxes. For group studios, participating artists must display large, prominent signs supplied by Open Studios in their own space.

The jury will consist of art consultants, museum administrators, and gallery owners who will score applications based on technical proficiency, individual style and personal vision, overall quality of work, and consistency in body of work. All artists will be notified of acceptance on or before May 2, 2009. If accepted, artists must submit a $210 participation fee by May 15, 2009. Checks should be mailed to Open Studios, P.O.
