Boulder Open Studios 2008

Boulder Open Studios is an exhibition event taking place October 4-12, 2008. The entry deadline is May 1, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The application fee is $200, which includes a $25 non-refundable application fee and a $175 participation fee (refunded if not accepted).

All applicants must apply online through CallForEntry.org and submit 6 images of different artworks completed since 2005. Juried artists should place their preferred image for the Guidebook in the first position. Non-juried artists should submit 1 image repeated 6 times for the Guidebook. Participating artists' year-round studios must be located within the designated geography shown on the site plan.

Participating artists must devote a major portion of their time to creating art as a profession and derive a portion of their income from art sales. Artists must have a minimum of 12 pieces to exhibit (6 for labor-intensive media) and agree to provide an educational component by demonstrating their creative process and materials or displaying basic steps in completing their work. Studios must be conducive to public visitation, and artists must be present in their studios wearing name badges during all Open Studios hours. Artists must have required City, County, and State Sales Tax Licenses and collect and pay sales taxes. Single artist studios may not display work from other artists. Group studios must display prominent signs identifying participating artists and request that non-participating artists not actively promote their work or display Open Studios signage.

The jury consists of art consultants, museum administrators, and gallery owners who score applications on technical proficiency, individual style and personal vision, overall quality, and pursuit of art as a profession. Acceptance notifications will be sent on or before June 2, 2008.
