About This Call
Boulder Open Studios is a juried and non-juried artist exhibition. All applicants must apply online through CallForEntry.org by midnight, May 2, 2007. The entry fee is $200, which includes a $25 non-refundable application fee and a $175 participation fee. If not accepted by the jury, the $175 participation fee will be refunded by check.
Juried artists must submit 6 different images of 6 different pieces of art completed since 2004 and representative of work to be shown during Open Studios, with the preferred image for the Guidebook placed first. Non-juried artists must submit 1 image of art 6 times, completed since 2004, for the Guidebook. Participating artists must have their year-round studio within the designated geography, devote a major portion of their time to creating art, create art as a profession, and derive a portion of their income from their art. Artists must have a minimum of 12 pieces to exhibit (6 for labor-intensive media), maintain a studio setting conducive to public visitation, and agree to be present in their studio during all hours of Open Studios wearing a name badge. Artists must also provide an educational component by demonstrating their creative process and materials or displaying basic steps in completing their work. All participating artists must have required City, County, and State Sales Tax Licenses and collect and pay sales taxes.
The jury consists of art consultants, museum administrators, and gallery owners who will score applications on technical proficiency, individual style and personal vision, overall quality of work, and whether the applicant is pursuing art as a profession. All artists will be notified of acceptance by June 18, 2007.
