About This Call

Boulder Housing Partners invites Colorado Front Range artists and artist teams to submit work samples and qualifications to be considered for the 2020 BHP artist roster. The roster will be used for identifying appropriate artists and teams for public art opportunities within Boulder Housing Partners existing communities and future developments.

Eligibility is open to experienced artists living in the Front Range Corridor region of Colorado regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical handicap. Artists working in any media are eligible to apply, and previous experience in public art is not required.

The Artist Roster will serve as an ongoing resource for public art and engagement opportunities within BHP communities in Boulder, Colorado. Projects will vary in scope and budget and include the following categories: Public Art (permanent and temporary works that respond directly to specific environments and communities); Murals (large-scale works for architectural features, walls, and construction fencing); Media Arts (work produced, modified, and transmitted by digital technologies including video, photography, projections, virtual reality, augmented reality, sound installations, and locative media); and Social/Civic Practice (engagement through personal interaction and social discourse that facilitates collaboration between artists and communities).

Applications must include: a letter of interest PDF addressing your experience with public art and interest in Boulder Housing Partners opportunities; a resume, CV, or list of professional achievements with at least two professional references; and 5-20 images and/or videos of your work with an image identification list PDF including descriptions, dates, locations, and conceptual or project information. Applicants should select the most relevant category or "All categories" if interested in multiple areas. Applications will be reviewed based on inherent artistic quality and diversity in perspective, approach, style, scale, narrative, media, gender, and cultural identity. The roster will be active for two years, with artists contacted by BHP as opportunities become available. Application deadline: February 29, 2020. Notification of acceptance: May 1, 2020. Public art projects will be initiated on a rolling basis starting spring 2020 through 2022.
