About This Call
Bothell City Hall Gallery invites artists and artist groups of diverse mediums to apply for exhibition opportunities. The gallery is located in the main lobby and hallway of City Hall (18415 101st Ave NE) and is frequented by the public and city personnel.
Two exhibition tracks are available: 2-Dimensional/3-Dimensional Work and Media Art. For 2D/3D work, the gallery features a professional STAS j-rail max hanging system with natural light from an atrium ceiling. All 2-dimensional work must be mounted or framed and ready to hang with wires. A small display case is available for 3-dimensional work, with pieces limited to 8.5" in height. Exhibits are 12 weeks and can be individual or group shows, with space for approximately 16 works of art. For media art, applications are accepted for display on four 42" screens. Selected works are displayed in rotation during normal hours of operation. Up to 12 artists will be selected to present for a three-month period. Works should be no more than five minutes in length and should not be highly dependent on sound.
All work must be delivered and picked up in person, and artwork and labels will be installed by City of Bothell staff. Hours of operation are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with City Hall closed on government holidays. Artists are encouraged to offer works for sale; the City does not take a commission. A selection panel will evaluate applications based on demonstrated or potential artistic merit, considering a variety of genres, geographic and cultural diversity, and appropriateness for a public location. Exhibits are publicized through city-generated press releases and the City's website. The first available exhibit date is February 2018. Applicants should submit up to 10 representative images (minimum 3) for 2D/3D work or up to 3 video samples for media art, along with a resume detailing exhibition history and/or an artist statement. Preference is given to work completed in the last two years. Applicants are encouraged to indicate preferred exhibition months and whether they prefer a solo or group exhibition. This opportunity is open to artists and artist groups residing in the United States. Contact DeNae McGee at [email protected] or 425-806-6143 for inquiries.
