About This Call

Bothell City Hall Gallery is seeking 2-dimensional artists of diverse mediums and video artists for exhibitions. The gallery space consists of approximately 60 square feet of display space located in the main lobby and hallway of City Hall (18415 101st Ave NE). Exhibits will be 2-4 months in duration and may be individual or group shows. Hours of operation are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with City Hall closed on government holidays.

For 2-dimensional work, all pieces must be mounted or framed and ready to hang with wires. The gallery uses a professional STAS j-rail max hanging system with ample natural light filtering through an atrium ceiling. All work must be delivered and picked up in person and will be installed with assistance from City of Bothell staff. For video art, applications are being accepted for work to be displayed on four 42-inch screens. Works no more than five minutes in length are desired and should not be highly dependent on sound due to the nature of the public space. Selected videos will be presented in rotation for up to a three-month period.

Applications should include up to six representative digital images for 2-dimensional work or up to three video samples, along with an artist statement describing each piece and exhibition history if applicable. Applicants are encouraged to indicate preferred exhibition months and preference for solo or group showing. A selection panel will evaluate applications based on demonstrated or potential artistic merit, considering a variety of genres and culturally diverse works, as well as appropriateness for a public location. Selected art and video will be scheduled for 2023 and 2024. Exhibitions are publicized through city-generated press releases and the City's website. Artists are encouraged to offer works for sale; the City of Bothell does not take a commission on sales. This opportunity is open to experienced and emerging artists residing in Washington state, with preference given to artists living in King and Snohomish Counties. Contact DeNae McGee at [email protected] or 425-471-9303 for inquiries.
