Bothell City Hall Gallery

The Bothell City Hall Gallery is seeking 2-dimensional artists of diverse mediums and video artists for exhibitions. The gallery space consists of approximately 60 square feet of display space for 2-dimensional work. Exhibits will be 3-4 months in duration and may be individual or group shows.

Video art applications are being accepted for work displayed on four 42-inch screens. Up to 24 artists will be selected to present in rotation for a three-month period. Works should be no more than five minutes in length and should not be highly dependent on sound due to the nature of the public space. Artists may present a single work spanning all four screens or different visuals on each screen with one audio file.

This opportunity is open to experienced and emerging artists residing in Washington state, with preference given to artists residing in King and Snohomish Counties. Selection will be based on demonstrated or potential artistic merit, with consideration given to a variety of genres, geographic and cultural diversity, and appropriateness in concept and content for a public location. Artists are encouraged to offer works for sale, but are not required to do so. The City of Bothell does not take a commission on any works sold. Exhibits will be scheduled for 2019 and 2020. The 2-dimensional gallery features a professional STAS j-rail max hanging system with natural light from an atrium ceiling. All 2-dimensional work must be mounted or framed and ready to hang with wires. All work must be delivered and picked up in person and will be installed with assistance from City of Bothell staff. An installation date and time will be assigned. Gallery hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and City Hall is closed on government holidays.

Applications must include up to ten representative digital images (minimum 3) for 2-dimensional work or up to three video art work samples. An artist statement describing each piece and exhibition history is required. Artists may apply for both 2-dimensional and media art with two separate applications. Applicants may indicate preferred exhibition months and whether they prefer a solo or group exhibition. The application deadline is Saturday, November 10, 2018. For inquiries, call 425.806.6143.
