About This Call
The Boston Printmakers 2015 North American Print Biennial presents the best in contemporary and traditional printmaking and is recognized as one of the most prestigious events in printmaking. Founded in 1947, the Boston Printmakers' mission is to promote public knowledge of printmaking, encourage and support artists working in printmaking, and promote excellence and innovation within the field. The biennial will be held at the Lunder Arts Center at Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with an opening reception on November 8, 2015, and exhibition running through December 12, 2015.
Juror Willie Cole is a noted contemporary American conceptual and visual artist whose work is found in numerous private and public collections and museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Over $10,000 is available in juror-designated purchase prizes and materials awards. Purchase prizes are placed into permanent collections at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, MA; and the Boston Printmakers Collection at the Boston Public Library.
North American artists 18 years and older are eligible to enter. Original, innovative works in all printmaking media are eligible; photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered. Submitted work may not have been exhibited in any other Boston Printmakers exhibition. Artists may submit up to three digital images of original prints completed within the past two years. The entry fee is $45 USD for non-members or $30 USD for Boston Printmakers members with coupon code. Notifications will be emailed on June 15, 2015. All delivered work must match the juried image and arrive with a hinged 4-ply window mat and 3/16 foam core backing board. Shipped work must be sent pre-paid via UPS with a pre-paid return-shipping label. A 35% commission will be charged on all sales and Patron selections; no commissions will be taken on purchase prizes.
