Borders

Artists residing in Great Lakes states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin) are invited to submit work for a juried exhibition entitled "Borders" hosted by Owens Center for Fine and Performing Arts and River House Arts in Northwest Ohio. The exhibition will take place in the Walter Terhune Gallery and adjacent display spaces from March 4–31, 2016. Sarah Rose Sharp, an award-winning Detroit-based arts writer and critic, will jury the show. An artist's reception on Friday, March 4th, 2016, will include a brief juror talk.

The exhibition seeks works that explore the lines, boundaries, and edges of contemporary life, including social, political, and geographic limits as well as those related to artistic practice or personal identity. "Borders" is open to both individuals and collaboratives working in traditional media, new media, video, and installation. Eligibility requirements: artists must currently reside in one of the Great Lakes states; any size and medium will be considered including two-dimensional and three-dimensional works and installation; entries must have been completed after January 1, 2013; all entries must be original (no giclees, gallery wraps, copies, or reproductions); up to 5 individual works with a total of 10 images may be entered (with multiple views for 3D works and installations); video entries are limited to 3.

Entry fee: $30 ($20 for students). Work samples: minimum 3 images, maximum 10 images total (including up to 3 videos). Deadline to apply: February 1, 2016. Entrants will be notified by February 12, 2016. Accepted artwork should be shipped or hand-delivered by February 26, 2016. Pick-up will be at Owens Center for Fine and Performing Arts between April 1–3, 2016. Awards: 1st Place $500 plus solo exhibition; 2nd Place $300; 3rd Place $250.
