Book As Art V.9: Muse

The Decatur Arts Alliance presents the ninth edition of the juried exhibition of artists' books, Book as Art, August 13–October 1, 2021, installed at the Decatur Branch of the DeKalb County Public Library in Decatur, Georgia. If conditions allow, the DAA will sponsor a limited opening on Friday, August 27, 2021, or a virtual opening and tour of the exhibition.

Artists are invited to enter original or limited edition original or altered books. The exhibition seeks beautifully made volumes, sculptural and conceptual interpretations, and one-of-a-kind approaches to the book format, including wall-hung interpretations. All works must be the work of the entering artist. Collaborative projects are eligible, with names of all participating artists to be included in the statement or description of the work. Entries will be open April 19–June 4, 2021 on callforentry.org. The entry fee is $30.00 for up to three artworks, with up to five images per work. International artists are welcome to submit.

Works will be selected by a panel of three jurors on the basis of creative excellence and quality of execution. Awards include: First Place $1,000, Second Place $700, Third Place $500, and Merit Award $100. An online catalogue is anticipated. Sales are encouraged, with the DAA collecting a 25% commission on all artwork sold. Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition. No work accepted may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition, and artists cannot substitute another work or raise the sales price after acceptance.
