About This Call
The Decatur Arts Alliance presents the fourth edition of the juried exhibition of artists' books, The Book as Art, August 19–September 30, 2016, at the Decatur Branch of the DeKalb County Library. The exhibition dates encompass the AJC-Decatur Book Festival (September 2–4, 2016). An opening and juror's talk will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016.
The exhibition showcases beautifully made volumes, sculptural and conceptual interpretations, and one-of-a-kind approaches to the book format, including wall-hung interpretations. Artists' books are selected by a panel of three jurors on the basis of creative excellence and quality of execution. Original or limited edition original or altered books are eligible. Collaborative projects are welcome, with all participating artists named in the work description.
Entry fee is $30.00 for up to three items with up to five images per item. Entries are submitted digitally through callforentry.org from April 15 – June 3, 2016. Awards include: First Place $1,000, Second Place $700, Third Place $500, and Merit Award $100. Purchase awards are being solicited. An online catalogue is anticipated. The DAA handles all sales and collects a 25% commission on artwork sold. Work will be insured for the duration of the exhibition. Artists are advised to arrange their own shipping insurance. No work accepted may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition, and accepted work cannot be substituted or have its sales price raised.
