About This Call
The City of Boerne, Texas seeks up to ten (10) outdoor sculptures for its Boerne Art al Fresco Public Art Competition. The sculptures will be exhibited outdoors in and around the City's downtown Historic District, The Hill Country Mile, and the Boerne Trail system. The purpose of the Competition is to build the City's public art collection, to encourage cultural tourism, to engage local visitors and citizens in public art and to build a unique sense of place in Boerne. The City will have the option to purchase one or more of the sculptures at the end of the exhibit. The stipend amount for artists selected to exhibit is $2,000 each.
This is a national call open to experienced professional artists over the age of 18. Artwork must be pre-existing and ready to be loaned to the City. Submissions for artwork concepts, maquettes, or models will not be considered. Sculptures must be monumental or life-size, in complete form and appear exactly as photographed, appropriate for installation outside in a family-friendly environment, and durable and safe for public interaction, especially with children. Applicants may submit up to three sculptures for consideration with a separate application for each sculpture. Artists are eligible to have one piece of artwork in the exhibition. The sculpture must be available for installation in August 2015 and exhibition from September 2015 through September 2016 (13 months). The artist will be responsible for transport, installation and de-installation. The exhibit opens September 10, 2015 with a VIP/Artist's reception and runs through September 30, 2016.
