Body Building: The Art of the Human Figure

Body Building: The Art of the Human Figure is an exhibition open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in the United States. Work must be made within the last two years and cannot have been previously shown at the Art Center. All work must be original and made by the artist or artist team; collaborative works between artists are eligible.

All media is eligible, although work must have a tie-in to the body or human figure, literally or figuratively, as subject matter. Installation artists should contact the Art Center before applying to ensure compatibility of space. 2D artwork must not weigh more than 250 pounds or be bigger than 10' x 10'. Artists may submit up to six pieces of work for jurying. Entry fee is $25 for two pieces, with a $5 additional fee for up to six pieces. Work samples may include 2-6 images, 0-2 audio files, and 0-2 video files, with a total of 2-10 samples.

Awards include Best in Show ($1,500), Best in 2D including video ($500), and Best in 3D including installation ($500). Awards will be announced at the Opening Reception on Friday, February 21, 2020 (6-9 p.m.). All accepted work must remain on display until April 8, 2020. Artwork must arrive by Thursday, February 6, 2020. The artist is responsible for shipping costs and insurance in transit. Work must be shipped in a reusable container, and return shipping is to be paid by the artist. Hand-delivered work may be dropped off beginning Monday, January 20 through Thursday, February 6, 2020. All work may be offered for sale; the Art Center retains a 35% commission on all sales. The Art Center will insure the exhibition while on view.
