Bodies - February 2014 Juried Exhibit

North Seattle Community College Art Gallery invites artists of any media to submit work for a juried exhibition on the theme of "Bodies." The gallery seeks a wide range of responses reflecting the physical, experiential, political, historical, or emotional aspects of the body. Artists who reinterpret or expand beyond traditional figure drawing and painting are especially encouraged to apply.

Juror: Elizabeth A. Brown, Ph.D., former Chief Curator of the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle. Brown is an art historian, writer, institutional consultant, and freelance curator with extensive experience at major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, and Centre Georges Pompidou. Her scholarship explores vanguard art practices, focusing on artists' intellectual processes, functions of art objects, and viewers' direct experiences of fully realized works.

Submission Requirements: Submit 1-5 work samples (images, audio, or video) through callforentry.org only. Works must be original and completed within the past two years. Submission Deadline: January 10, 2014. Notification: January 24, 2014. Exhibition Dates: February 18 – March 14, 2014. Due date for accepted work: February 11, 2014. Return of work: March 17-19, 2014. Award: People's Choice Award of $400.00 voted on by exhibit visitors. All works are insured while at North Seattle Community College; however, the college assumes no liability for loss or damage during shipping. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and encouraged to secure their own insurance. Accepted works must be gallery-ready with appropriate hardware. Local artists should deliver artwork by January 27, 2014 or by special arrangement. Non-local artists should ship via UPS, FedEx, or USPS in strong, reusable crates or cardboard cartons with pre-paid return shipping and insurance labels.
