Blue Sky Residency at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology 2024

Blue Sky, Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts and Sitka Center for Art and Ecology announce their seventh year of partnership to award residencies to two emerging or mid-career photographers for Winter 2024.

Both residencies will take place on the Sitka Center campus in Otis, OR, from January 8 – February 8, 2024. Each residency includes accommodation in a studio apartment, access to private studio space, and a $250 stipend. Residents will have access to wireless internet, the Center's library, other artists and ecologists in residence, and the natural beauty of the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area and Salmon River Estuary. Please note that there is no darkroom facility or printers at the Sitka Center. The two residents will be invited to show work at the 2024 Sitka Art Invitational and participate in an online resident talk during their residency. If desired, Blue Sky will showcase work created at the residency on the Blue Sky community and library walls, website, and social media, and artists will have the opportunity to present a short artist talk at Blue Sky in Summer or Fall 2024.

Eligibility: Only open to self-identified emerging or mid-career artists who have shown at Blue Sky, either juried into the PNW Drawers or in an exhibition in the main galleries. Applications are due Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:59 PM PT. There is no application fee. Submit via callforentry.org: 8-15 images representative of your work, an artist statement (4,000 characters max), an up-to-date resume or CV, and a one-page letter of interest addressing how the residency would benefit you and how your work relates to the Sitka Center's mission. Applicants will be notified of a decision by late August 2023.
