Blue Sky 2024 Pacific Northwest Drawers

Blue Sky, Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts, is accepting submissions for the 2024 Pacific Northwest Drawers exhibition. Photographic artists based in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington are eligible to apply. There is no application fee.

Since 2007, the Pacific Northwest Drawers program has showcased diverse photography from the region. Selected photographers will exhibit 10 prints in accessible drawers for a full year. The 2024 juror is Aline Smithson, a visual artist, editor, and educator based in Los Angeles known for conceptual portraiture. The PNW Drawers exhibition encourages visitors to handle the art and attracts students, curators, collectors, and daily visitors. Blue Sky features all images of each PNW Drawers artist on its website along with artist statements and bios, and hosts gallery events throughout the year to support and celebrate the artists.

Submissions must include exactly 10 images (no watermarks) from a single series or body of work created within the last five years. If previously featured in PNW Drawers, submissions must be new or different work. Applicants must provide details about each print (title, medium, dimensions, price, date), an artist CV, and a brief artist statement not exceeding 300 words. Accepted works must be delivered matted and/or mounted, with final dimensions not exceeding 20" x 24" x 1.5" when stacked. Only one entry per artist is permitted. Accepted artists will be notified no later than February 1, 2024, with works due at the gallery by March 16, 2024. The exhibition debuts publicly on April 4, 2024. All selected prints are eligible for sale with the artist's permission, with Blue Sky retaining a 50% commission.
