About This Call
Blue Line Arts in Roseville, CA is hosting a poster contest to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Since its inception in 1966, Blue Line Arts has been enriching the cultural fabric of Placer County and beyond. The organization is seeking artists to design posters that celebrate this legacy throughout the decades. Artists are encouraged to take inspiration from iconic design movements from the 1960s to the current era, including Pop Art, minimalism, psychedelic art, and brutalist design.
Posters will be displayed in the gallery for 3 weeks leading up to the SCG Artist Residency and will be available for public voting. Prize winners receive: 1st Place - $50 gift card to BLICK Art Materials plus featured poster design with social media, website, and newsletter feature; 2nd Place - $30 gift card to Michael's plus newsletter feature; 3rd Place - $20 gift card to Michael's plus newsletter feature. All participants receive a free Blue Line Arts sticker available for pickup at the gallery. After the exhibition, posters will be sold as merchandise for the gallery's 60th Anniversary, with artists retaining their commission.
Posters must be 11" x 17" and printed without a frame. Entry fee is $10 for a flat submission of up to 3 images. Free submissions are available for Blue Line Arts members, college-level members, and local college students from Placer County and neighboring Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo, Yuba, Sutter, and Nevada Counties (contact [email protected] for discount code). Applicants must be 18 years or older. All artwork must be original, printed, unframed, and for sale. Accepted artwork that differs significantly from the online submission image will be disqualified. No accepted entry may be withdrawn or sold outside the exhibition prior to closing. Blue Line Arts handles all sales transactions; non-member artists receive 50% commission and members receive 60% commission. Image submissions must be JPG format, 1-3mb in size, minimum 1200 px on one side, named as: Artist Name-Artwork Title.jpg.
