About This Call
MCLA Gallery 51 is pleased to announce a call for entries for Black Lives Matter. This exhibition will examine how art can ignite conversation between artist and viewer, viewer and viewer and viewer and self. It is open to artists working in all mediums, especially painting, printmaking, sculpture, artist books and installation that utilizes any of these techniques. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional based works will be accepted.
Artists are encouraged to explore from the literal to the conceptual underpinnings of Black Lives Matter and seeks to examine the impact of state and national violence on black lives. Submissions that encourage and incite conversation about race relations, the importance of black lives, and proposals for what we each must do to make a difference in our society are invited.
Submissions must include 3-5 work samples (images, audio, or video). There is no submission fee. However, artists are responsible for the delivery or shipment of the work to and from the gallery. All work must have pre-paid return shipping labels included to be returned to you. Selected work must arrive in hang-ready condition with any special hanging instructions included in shipping. Per Gallery policy, proceeds from any show sales are split 70/30 Artist/Gallery. Exhibition dates: February 4 – February 28, 2016. Location: MCLA Gallery 51, 51 Main Street, North Adams, MA 01247.
