Black and White: 2025

Black Box Gallery is hosting a Black and White juried group photography exhibition. The show seeks a diversity of photographic works exploring black and white imagery, from classic and nostalgic approaches to contemporary interpretations that engage with the tradition of luminous, well-crafted, and thoughtfully composed photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and administration. Johnson has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, and has curated exhibitions at institutions including Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, and The Waiting Room Gallery.

Entry deadline is January 10, 2025. Exhibition dates are February 1-25, 2025. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected works. Prints will be kept in the gallery's flat file after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may elect for their print to be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale. Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. Open to all photographers internationally.
