About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition themed around black and white imagery. The exhibition seeks a diversity of photographic works exploring the classic, nostalgic, and dynamic qualities of black and white photography, as well as contemporary approaches to this tradition.
Juror Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has extensive experience as a portfolio reviewer, independent curator, and arts educator. The exhibition will feature 24 photographs selected for display at the gallery (February 1-20, 2022), with an additional 30 photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected works. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer using Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Selected photographers must provide high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Exhibition prints are retained in the gallery's flat file after the show for ongoing promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may opt for exhibition and promotion only without sales. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sales or printing occur without prior consent. Entry fee: $40. Submit 1-5 images. Open to all photographers internationally.
