About This Call
Foothills Park & Recreation District is seeking qualified Colorado-based artists or artist teams to create a bike-themed sculpture to be installed along the Dutch Creek Trail. The new Regional trail is currently being installed on the site. This sculpture should reflect the community's vibrant outdoor culture that is integral to the area. The artwork should be engaging, visually striking, and durable for the outdoor elements, encouraging trail users to appreciate the intersection of art, recreation, and nature.
After Request for Qualifications (RFQ) submissions are reviewed, proposals may be requested from finalists, and one artist or artist team will be hired and commissioned to create the bike-themed sculpture. The selected artist(s) will enter into a contract with Foothills Park & Recreation District to design, produce, and install the artwork within the agreed-upon timeline and budget of $25,000.
Interested artists should submit: a letter of interest outlining your interest in the project, relevant experience, and conceptual approach to the bike theme; up to 10 images of relevant past work with descriptions and project budgets; a current resume or curriculum vitae highlighting experience with public art and sculpture; and contact information for at least three professional references. Artists will be selected based on demonstrated experience and quality of past work, creative and conceptual approach to the bike theme, ability to work within the budget and timeline, and compatibility with the location and community context.
