BFA Now: Painting

The 2009 painting competition is dedicated to the idea that painting as a tradition is alive and well in the world of contemporary art. The competition is open to all undergraduate students of fine arts who have been enrolled in an undergraduate program during the 2007 and/or 2008 calendar years. As this is an international call for entries, students of any country or nationality are encouraged to apply. In a contemporary environment, there is no set criteria as to what constitutes painting. Any applicants who consider their work to include painting as a medium and to be a continuation of the painting tradition are encouraged to apply.

Entries are accepted between January 11, 2009 and March 15, 2009. The submission fee per entry is $35.00 (USD). Five winners will each receive $10,000 awards. The top 100 painting entries will be published in a catalogue. All winners are to be announced by May 30th. Exhibitions celebrating the event winners will be held in the summer of 2009 (dates to be determined).
