Beyond Words: Contemporary Book Art

Foothills Art Center (FAC) invites submissions for Beyond Words: Contemporary Book Art, an exhibition featuring artworks made from and in the form of books. The exhibition will run January 24 – March 22, 2015, at FAC's historic location in downtown Golden, housed in an 1872 Gothic style church and an 1892 Queen Anne style manse.

Artists may enter up to 3 works, each to be judged for inclusion in the exhibition and considered for cash awards of over $1,000. The exhibition will feature several invited nationally and internationally recognized book artists, with remaining works selected by juror Alicia Bailey. Artists are invited to enter original or limited edition artist books, sculptural books, book objects, altered books, or book installations. Wall pieces may not exceed 50 lbs and must be equipped with adequate hanging devices and hardware. The work or body of work must not previously have been displayed at FAC. Accepted artists will be invited to bring smaller items priced $250 or less for a special gift gallery exhibition space.

Submission deadline is November 17, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The entry fee is $30 for the first entry, with coupon codes provided for up to two additional entries free of charge. National and international artists are eligible. Submissions must include up to 5 images per entry, contact information, title, and a brief statement about the work (limit 100 words). Juror selections will be announced December 8, 2014. Accepted artists' work will be delivered January 13-17, 2015. FAC retains a 40% commission on art sales.
