Beyond the Photograph: Artificial Intelligence, Photorealism & (Other) Images That Fool the Eye

This exhibition seeks photorealistic work in any media except conventional photography that fools the eye and challenges the viewer's perception. The call welcomes drawing, painting, digital media, manipulated or composite photography, and AI-generated or enhanced images. Work should leave viewers wondering how the image was made and whether it is a photograph.

Artists of all levels 18 years or older may submit up to 15 images. The entry fee is $15 for the first image and $10 for each additional image. Current RICPA members receive a 20% discount. Work must be original, exhibition-ready, and not exceed 48" including the frame. The application deadline is March 30, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.

Accepted work must be delivered by May 11, 2024. The exhibition runs May 16 through June 14, 2024, with a reception and awards ceremony on May 16 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Awards are $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $75 for third place. The juror is David DeMelim, founder and managing director of RICPA. In-person delivery is available May 11 from noon to 5:30 p.m., or shipped work must arrive by May 11 with a prepaid return label.
