About This Call

The Suffolk Art Gallery and Suffolk Art League are hosting their annual spring exhibition in partnership with the U.S.O. to highlight the creativity of active and reserve duty service members, their families, and veterans. This exhibition celebrates the artistic talent of Mid-Atlantic service members, their families, and veterans, recognizing the wide-ranging abilities of dedicated military beyond the uniform.

The exhibition invites all Mid-Atlantic active and reserve duty military, their family members, and veterans ages 18 and older to submit artworks that consider how military lifestyle has impacted them and informed their identity, themes, and subjects depicted in their work. Artwork does not need to be military-themed or limited to military life specifically. A wide variety of subject matter, media, processes, and techniques are welcome.

Each artist may submit up to three works at no cost. Digital images will be used for jurying; no physical pieces are accepted for review. Artists may submit up to three images per work (2-D or 3-D), with images no larger than 5MB each. All works must be originals completed within the last two years and must not have been previously displayed at the Suffolk Art Gallery. No installation art, video, audio enhancements, or AI-generated works are accepted. All styles and media are welcome except those noted. Works must be labeled with title and artist name on back, framed if required, and ready to display. 2-D artwork must have hanging wire attached; clip-type or sawtooth hangers will not be accepted. For large sculptures (more than 50 pounds), contact the gallery before entering. 3-D works must be stable or have mounting hardware and installation instructions. Awards: Best in Show - $500, Second Place - $300, Third Place - $200, Viewer's Choice - $100. Suffolk Art Gallery and Suffolk Art League retain a 30% consignment of all works sold. All work must remain on display for the duration of the show.
