About This Call
Tennessee Craft seeks entries for its Best of Tennessee Craft: 2024 Biennial exhibition to encourage and promote a high standard of excellence and design among Tennessee craft artists and to provide public visibility and recognition for the quality and diversity of craft found in Tennessee. The exhibition is open to original works of craft created by artists 18 years or older who are current residents of Tennessee, including students.
Up to 75 pieces of artwork will be selected for this craft exhibition, hosted by Arrowmont School of Craft in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The public exhibition runs October 14, 2024 through December 13, 2024, with a closing reception planned for Friday, December 13th. Artists may submit up to three craft pieces, each represented by one high-resolution image (300 dpi or greater). The entry fee is $40 ($35 for current Tennessee Craft members with coupon code "BoTC24"). All entry forms must be electronically submitted by 11:59 p.m. CST on July 31, 2024. Notification to artists will be August 19, 2024.
Eligible craft media include basketry, books/paper, clay, drawing, fiber/textile, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood, and other. Original artwork only is accepted; commercially made embellishments must be subordinate to handcrafted work. Laser, CAD-, or CNC-assisted works are not allowed unless generated components are subordinate to the finished artwork. Artwork produced with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, or prefabricated forms are ineligible. The exhibition will be juried by a guest art professional who will select works to receive cash awards, including a $1,500 Best of Show award. Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts will take a 40% commission on all sold works. All work must arrive ready to hang and be received between September 30 through October 4. For questions, contact Heather F. Wetzel, Galleries & Collections Manager, at [email protected].
