About This Call
Denver International Airport announces The Best of Colorado artist show from August 2006 through January 2007. As the City prepares for the international spotlight on the Denver Art Museum's new Frederick C. Hamilton Building opening October 7, 2006, DIA would like to highlight 75 of Colorado's most talented artists for display during these heavy travel months. The opening reception at DIA will be just prior to the opening of the Denver Art Museum.
The Best of Colorado is open to all Colorado residents. All work must be original and completed in the past 2 years. All media except video are eligible for exhibition. The exhibition will be on view on concourses A, B and C inside security and in the Jeppesen Terminal. Jurying will be based on digital images submitted. Digital images must represent the actual work to be delivered to DIA. The subject matter of the exhibitions must be appropriate for viewing in an airport venue. DIA does not accept for display political statements, nudity, lewd or pornographic depictions, violent or menacing images, weapons, ethnic slurs or any controversial materials that could make airline passengers apprehensive about flying. Selected artists will be notified by July 19, 2006.
All entries must be suitably presented for installation and wired for hanging. Works on paper and photography must be presented with a white or off-white mat and framed under plexiglass. The largest available display case is 30" h x 62" w x 30" d. Two and 3-dimensional works larger than 30" h x 62" w will be displayed outside display cases with the artist's permission. Shipped work must arrive August 1-3, 2006 in a reusable carton. The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping to DIA and DIA will pay for return shipment if outside the metro area. All artwork accepted into the exhibition will be insured for the time that it is in the airport's possession. Denver International Airport does not take any commission on sales of work sold through this exhibition. Applications must be submitted electronically through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org with four digital images. There is no application fee.
