About This Call
The Bernalillo County 1% for Public Art program and Bernalillo County Art Board seeks to purchase two-dimensional and low relief three-dimensional artworks for Bernalillo County Buildings. Up to $19,000 is available for artworks or artwork configurations to be placed throughout various county buildings, with the Arts Board hoping to purchase between ten and twenty pieces. All selected artworks will be initially showcased in the Bernalillo County Art Board Gallery located on the 10th floor of the City/County Building in Albuquerque.
This call is open to emerging and existing artists only. Emerging artists are those just beginning their professional art careers or taking established careers in new directions, with evidence of professional achievement such as exhibitions, publications, or awards. Existing artists are at a mature state of their career with a regular body of work and history of public exhibition, but artists with widely acclaimed reputations are not eligible. Each artist may submit up to three different artworks or artwork configurations, with a maximum of six digital images total (one image and one detail image per artwork).
Artworks must be two-dimensional or low relief three-dimensional media, ready for transportation and installation upon purchase. Total size should not exceed 3' x 4' including mats, frames, or other permanent mounting structures. Digital photographs must be of archival quality, and all framing and materials must also be archival quality. Submissions must include an artist statement (up to 3000 characters), current résumé (up to 3 pages), annotated image list with artwork details and purchase prices, and up to three professional references. Contact: Paul L. Evans, Public Art Project Manager, (505) 468-1271, [email protected].
