About This Call
The Berkeley Art Center invites artists living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area to participate in its 2022 juried Members Exhibition. Artists are invited to respond to the theme "connect+collaborate" with works in any media that carries themes of connection or partnership. This can be interpreted many ways, including the desire to connect in a time of disconnect, community movements to collaborate deeply, or something more formal or abstract.
Submitting is free for current members. New and renewing members can sign up at a sliding scale of $15–$55. Up to three Curator Spotlight awards will be chosen to receive a one-on-one studio visit with the juror via Zoom, and a special Audience Award will be announced at the exhibition closing.
Work must be in small format with a size limit of 30 inches in any direction, including frames. Freestanding sculpture may be up to 48 inches tall and no more than 24 inches in any other dimension; BAC will provide pedestals. Recent artworks in all media are welcome. A short artist statement or project statement is required. Works must be ready to hang, dry, and framed where appropriate. Pieces with special hanging requirements should include hardware and clear, typed instructions. Artists must provide all necessary equipment for sound and video works. Work must have the artist's name clearly written on back unless the nature of the work makes it impossible to do so. Only greater Northern California Bay Area residents may submit.
Accepted artists will be notified May 31. Drop-off dates are June 22-25, 2022, 11am–5pm by appointment. The exhibition runs July 2–August 6, 2022.
