Beneath The Surface

"Beneath the Surface" invites members of the Northeast Feltmakers Guild to create work interpreting the theme of substrate or subconscious thought, the expected or the surprising, the physical or the metaphorical. Felt, by its nature, consists of layers of fibers.

Members may submit up to 3 works of art for jurying. Each application allows submission of up to 3 JPEG/JPG digital images (1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, 5 MB maximum). Work size limitations are 36 inches long x 7 feet high. Accepted pieces will be installed at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ and will be available for view as part of an online gallery. The exhibition runs September 30, 2022 – December 9, 2022. Jurors are Wes Sherman and Patricia Spark. Artist notification will be sent by email on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. In-person delivery and receipt of shipped work is Monday, September 19 – Saturday, September 24, 2022. The exhibition opening reception is Friday, September 30, 2022. Pre-paid artwork return and in-person pick-up is December 12 - December 17, 2022 during office hours.

There is no entry fee for up to three entries. The exhibition is open to members of the Northeast Feltmakers Guild. All artwork is insured for its declared value from receipt through December 17, 2022 while on premises; artists are responsible for insuring artwork during transit. The Center for Contemporary Art receives a 30% commission on all exhibition sales. Artists are responsible for shipping costs using UPS, FedEx, or DHL, and must include a return shipping label and return postage with artwork. Artwork may also be hand-delivered and picked up on the appropriate dates. Please provide an artist statement and CV/BIO if available.
