Being Seen: The Photographic Portrait

The Morean Arts Center invites photographers currently residing in the US to submit entries for the 2022 national photography exhibition "Being Seen: The Photographic Portrait," juried by Gregory Heisler. The exhibition will be held January 14 – March 17, 2022 at the Morean Arts Center. The exhibition celebrates the genre of the photographic portrait, whether it's a selfie, a candid, or a composed studio shot, recognizing how portrait photography serves as a window on the self or another person.

Eligibility: Open to all artists age 18 or older who are US residents. All work must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously exhibited at the Morean. Post production should be kept to a minimum with no composites. Images may be color or black & white. All work must be for sale. Entry fee is $35.00. Submit 1-3 images via www.callforentry.org. Submission deadline is November 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notification will be sent November 22, 2021.

If accepted, original works must be framed and equipped with wire, ready for hanging. Images should not exceed 60 inches in width, including frame. Accepted work may be hand-delivered or shipped (pre-paid) to arrive no later than January 6, 2022. The opening reception and awards announcement will be held January 14, 2022. Awards: $500 Best of Show, $300 2nd place, $150 3rd place. Award winners will be selected from the actual works displayed in the gallery. The Morean retains a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Artists will be paid for sold works within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.
