Bees and Wax: A National Juried Exhibition

Bees and Wax is a national juried exhibition presented by the Tubac Center of the Arts. The exhibition features art with the subject of bees and/or using beeswax in the work, such as encaustic. Artists are urged to enter work that is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract. Work must have been completed within the last 36 months and must be the original creation of the artist. Any media is eligible.

Entry fee is $35 ($30 with TCA membership), with an additional $3 per extra entry image. Artists may submit up to 4 work samples. The entry deadline is August 2, 2018. Notifications to artists will be sent August 9, 2018. The exhibition runs September 14 - October 21, 2018, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on Friday, September 14 at 5:00-7:00 pm.

All artwork must arrive ready to hang. If framed, work must be suitably matted in white, black, or neutral colors, simply framed, and firmly wired with no sawtooth hangers. Giclee reproductions printed on canvas are not permitted. All work must be for sale, and TCA will retain a 40% commission. No art may be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition, including sold work. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA and must provide a prepaid shipping label for return of unsold work. Prizes include Best of Show ($500), Award of Excellence ($300), Award of Merit ($250), Honorable Mention ($75), and Ursula Suess Abstract Award ($100).
