Beauty in the Ordinary: AVA's Fall 2024 Juried Exhibition

AVA Community Art Center in Gillette, WY invites artists to submit up to three artworks for consideration in the Beauty in the Ordinary Exhibition. The exhibition will feature up to thirty individual artworks selected by a juror. Awards include Best In Show ($500), Second Place ($250), Third Place ($150), and one People's Choice award ($100) selected by public votes and announced during the Artists' Reception. The exhibition runs August 1-31, 2024.

The exhibition theme celebrates the gentle rhythms of life and the unique beauty found in ordinary objects. Artists are invited to highlight how a creative eye can take something ordinary and make it something special. Eligible work includes 2D and 3D original artwork in any medium created on or after January 2020. Artwork dimensions are restricted to 48 inches in any direction, inclusive of matting and framing. Artists must be 16 years or older. Work previously exhibited at AVA or created under instructor supervision is not eligible. Ineligible work includes celebrity portraits, fan art, giclee or reproduction prints, artwork from tutorials, direct copies of others' work, and work infringing on copyright.

Submission requires a $15 entry fee (one payment covers up to three artworks). Each submission must include at least one high-resolution digital image. Artwork must be finished and display-ready, professionally framed (canvas work must be framed). Acceptable framing includes proper hanging wire and hardware; sawtooth hangers, clip frames, plastic framing, French cleats, and pre-drilled stainless post systems are not permitted. Mats and backings must be acid-free. Upon acceptance, artists receive a 65% commission split as AVA members or 55% as non-members and must provide a short biography for exhibition marketing materials.
