Bear Gallery 2020 Exhibition

Fairbanks Arts Association invites artists, artisans and curators from Alaska to submit a digital portfolio of artwork for solo, curated, or group exhibition in the Bear Gallery for the 2020 exhibition year. Solo exhibits feature one artist, group exhibits consist of works by more than two artists, and curated exhibits are organized by a curator who selects the theme, conceptual focus, and included artwork.

Eligibility is open to Alaska residents ages 18 or older. An individual artist may have a solo exhibit in the Bear Gallery once every four years. Artists who have had a solo exhibition prior to 2016 are eligible for consideration this year (curated exhibits are not subject to this four-year policy). Artists may submit only one solo proposal. Group proposals with a juried component, call for entry, or exhibit entry fee cannot be submitted for portfolio review. Curated and group exhibits must have an organizing representative.

Portfolio submissions must include up to 10 images of work completed in the last 5 years (group exhibits of more than 5 artists: two images per artist), an artist resume not exceeding two pages, and a brief artist statement or statement of exhibit intent. No less than 5 and no more than 10 work samples must be uploaded, with up to three video files permitted (included in the maximum of 10 uploads). Entry fee is $35.00 for non-members or $30.00 for current Fairbanks Arts Association members (contact [email protected] for member coupon code). Submission constitutes agreement to meet the Bear Gallery's scheduling needs for the 2020 exhibition year beginning January 2020.
