About This Call
The Public Arts Initiative (PAI) of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin invites qualifications from Wisconsin artists or artist/design teams to design, fabricate, and install a permanent public artwork at Bayview Terrace Park in Egg Harbor, Door County. The artwork should be inspired by the theme "Foundations: Past, Present and Future." The park features a majestic view of Egg Harbor with terraced grounds reaching to the public shoreline. Installation is targeted for late November 2017, with a budget of $19,500 for the artwork.
The selection committee will evaluate proposals based on how well the artwork inspires visitors to become custodians of the natural environment, creates a space for reflection and revitalization, and responds to the site's location at the convergence of five roadways visible from multiple vantage points. The artwork must be structurally safe for visitors of all ages and able to withstand Wisconsin's extreme weather conditions—high winds, ice, snow, rain, cold winters, and hot days—while requiring minimum maintenance.
Eligibility is limited to living Wisconsin artists or artist design teams, with one entry per artist/team. Submission requirements include seven images of previously completed artwork with citations, a current resume (three pages maximum), a design proposal addressing the project's themes and technical specifications, and one to three sketches of the proposed design. The $19,500 budget covers all fees and expenses including materials, equipment, labor, permits, engineering documents, insurance, taxes, travel, installation, shipping, identification plaque, maintenance instructions, and professional photographic documentation. The selected artist is responsible for delivery and installation by November 30, 2017, and must obtain contractor's insurance from the onset of selection through completed installation.
