About This Call
BAXTER ST at CCNY invites emerging photographers living in New York City to apply for the Workspace Residency Program. Entering its 10th year, this residency provides participating artists with three months of free access to B&W and Color darkrooms and digital workstations at the International Center of Photography, as well as in-house Digital Workstations at BAXTER ST. The program is made possible by generous support from Fujifilm, Kodak, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and The Jerome Foundation.
Residents receive free admission to all 2016 BAXTER ST at CCNY events, a monthly stipend, and donated material support during their residency. Dependent on funding, each resident may receive a solo exhibition at BAXTER ST at CCNY after their term of residency.
All artists currently residing in New York City who are working in photography or lens-based art are eligible to apply. Living accommodations are not provided. Students must have completed their studies on or before January 1, 2016 to be eligible. There is no application fee. A jury of photography professionals will review all eligible applications. Applicants must submit up to 10 images and 1 video (maximum 2 minutes), a short paragraph addressing what they aim to accomplish during the residency (maximum 2000 characters), a brief one-paragraph artist statement (maximum 2000 characters), and a one-page CV.
