Basketry Now: 10th Anniversary Exhibition

The National Basketry Organization invites submissions for Basketry Now: 10th Anniversary Exhibition, held at The Kentucky Museum on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in conjunction with the National Basketry Organization's 10th Anniversary Conference. The exhibition is open to all members of the National Basketry Organization and to non-member artists. Up to three pieces may be submitted per artist. Works must be completed in the last three years (2016-2019), may not exceed six feet in any direction, and must weigh no more than can be handled by two people. Works exhibited in previous juried NBO exhibitions are not eligible.

Submissions will be evaluated on concept, design, technique, craftsmanship, and creative exploration by juror Heather Sealy Lineberry, Senior Curator at the Arizona State University Art Museum. Entry fee is $35 for NBO members and $40 for non-members. Submissions must include 1-6 images (up to 3 works with one overall image and one detail image per work). Images should be no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 ppi/dpi resolution. Each submission must include retail price or insurance value and a brief artist statement (maximum 1000 characters). All submissions must be made through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org.

Three Excellence in Basketry Awards will be selected, along with five honorable mentions. Award winners will have their artworks published in NBO's quarterly publication, Basketry+. Notification of acceptance will be sent March 15, 2019. High resolution images of accepted work are due April 15, 2019. Accepted entries must be received by The Kentucky Museum by June 12-17, 2019. The exhibition runs July 16-December 1, 2019, with artwork returned in December 2019.
