About This Call
Barrett Art Center offers opportunities for established and emerging artists to exhibit their work in their historic gallery setting. In 2020, BAC will host four solo shows in the Crenson Gallery, held in conjunction with exhibitions in the main galleries.
Eligible media include drawing, painting, pastel, printmaking, photography, sculpture, fiber, digital and mixed-media works. The gallery is housed in a landmark historic townhouse from the 1840s. Four proposals will be chosen to exhibit based on technical and artistic execution, a cohesive body of work or coherent theme, overall artistic merit, and gallery size and structural capacity. The juror is Ashley James, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum.
Entry Deadline: November 13, 2019. Entry Fee: BAC members - $20; Non-members - $30. Work sample requirements: 6-10 images and up to 3 videos (6-10 total samples). Selected artists are required to pay a gallery fee: January 25 – March 7, May 16 – June 20, and October 10 – November 14 (BAC Members - $125; Non-Members - $150); November 28 – December 19 (BAC Members - $120; Non-Members - $140). Opening receptions are held on the first day of each show, Saturday, 3-6pm. Notification of decisions will be sent on or about the first week of December via email. Artists may present an artist talk during the exhibition.
