About This Call
PUNCH Projects presents Barnstorm, a series of pop-up exhibitions activating rural spaces with art, music and creative installations. The third event transforms the Thorp firehouse into an exhibition highlighting works in all media through projections and digital prints gathered from an international call to artists. Beyond the exhibition, this year's call also provides an opportunity to be considered for an artist residency in central Washington with living accommodations, access to studio facilities and an honorarium. Artists may apply to one or both opportunities through this call.
The exhibition will consist of printed and framed images, video monitors and projections. Selected artists will provide high-resolution digital image or video files, which PUNCH Projects will print and frame 12"x12" for exhibition. Video works will be displayed via monitors and projections on the interior and exterior walls. PUNCH Projects will pay shipping costs for unsold prints after the exhibition closes. All selected works will be cropped to square format. Prints will be priced at $200 each, with the artist receiving 50% of sales. Every participating artist will receive either a print of their work or $100. Video and audio works are for exhibition only, not for sale. There is no theme; however, submissions considering the dialogue between urban and rural sensibilities are encouraged. All forms of images are considered: photo-based works, photos of 2-d artwork, photos of installation, new media, sculpture, or other 3-d work, and photo stills from video works.
The PUNCH Visiting Artist Program offers a residency award of 1-2 weeks in July or August. Housing is provided in the upstairs apartment of PUNCH's exhibition and event space in Thorp, WA. Gallery One Visual Arts Center in Ellensburg provides studio space with access to ceramics facilities. A $400 weekly stipend and partial travel stipend for artists from outside Washington State are provided with support from the Robert B. McMillen Foundation and Gallery One. Exhibition dates: Saturdays 12-4pm, July 2-30, 2022. Opening reception with drinks and music is July 2. Entry fee: $20 first entry, $5 each additional entry. Media fee: $5. Maximum 10 images, 6 video files, or 6 audio files per submission.
