About This Call
PUNCH Projects presents Barnstorm 2018, the second in a series of pop-up exhibitions activating rural spaces with art, music and creative installations. This free month-long art happening will transform the Model KE building in Ellensburg's SODO district into an exhibition highlighting new media works in the form of projections and digital prints gathered from an international call to artists.
All forms of media are accepted. The exhibition will be comprised of large-format printed images, video monitors and projections juried by Ginger Ewing (Program Director and Co-Founder of Terrain Spokane; Washington State Arts Commissioner; Spokane Arts Commissioner; Artist Trust Ambassador; Executive Director, Window Dressing). Instead of original pieces, selected artists will provide high-resolution digital image or video files; large-format prints will be created from the files and hung in the space. Video works will be displayed via monitors and projections on interior and exterior walls. PUNCH Projects will pay shipping costs for prints to artists after the exhibition closes. There is no theme; however, submissions considering the dialogue between urban and rural sensibilities are encouraged. All forms of images are considered: photo-based works, photos of 2-d artwork, photos of installation, new media, sculpture, or other 3-d work, and photo stills from video works. Video clips, full-length video works and audio works are also welcome.
Submissions may include up to 6 image files, 6 video files, 6 audio files or a combination not exceeding 6 total. Entry fee is $10 per entry (up to 6 entries). If accepted, artists may choose to have their printed image for sale at the exhibition at a modest price ($100-$250 depending on print size). PUNCH Projects keeps 35% commission to cover printing costs; 65% goes to the artist. If a print sells, the artist will not receive a complimentary print after the show closes. Notification of accepted artists: May 7. Deadline to receive high-resolution images and videos from accepted artists: May 14. Opening reception: June 1, 7pm. Exhibition closes: June 30. Prints will be shipped to artists July 15-30. All submissions may be considered for subsequent PUNCH Projects events.
