Bank of the Arts Juried Exhibition

The Craven Arts Council & Gallery invites artists to enter the 2014 Bank of the Arts Annual Juried Exhibition. The exhibition offers $2,000 in awards, with Best in Show receiving $500 plus a one-month solo show in the main gallery. First prize in each category receives $200, and five $100 Merit Awards will be given. The opening reception will be held during the downtown New Bern ArtWalk on November 14, 2014 (5-8 p.m.). An additional reception will be held on January 9, 2015, during ArtWalk where poets will read works inspired by the exhibition artwork as part of the "Art Inspires Poetry" collaborative project.

Artists 18 years or older may submit one, two, or three entries for a $30 fee. Only original works of art not previously shown at the Craven Arts Council & Gallery and created within the last three years are eligible. Work must fit into one of five categories: 2D (paintings, mixed media), Contemporary Crafts (jewelry, textiles, wood, glass and metal art), Photography, Pottery, or Sculpture. All work to be hung must be professionally framed and/or securely wired, with hanging pieces not exceeding 8 feet in any direction. Three-dimensional work must sit solidly on a flat surface or be properly mounted for hanging.

Accepted works should arrive between October 28 and November 8, 2014. All entries are available for sale with a 30% commission taken by the Craven Arts Council & Gallery. No NFS (not for sale) or POR (price on request) pieces will be accepted. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements to and from the gallery, as well as shipping insurance. Accepted entries may be picked up at the Bank of the Arts, 317 Middle St., New Bern, NC 28560, on January 27-31, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All work not picked up by February 28, 2015, becomes the property of the Craven Arts Council & Gallery. Notification of acceptance will be made on October 21, 2014. The juror is Tom Grubb.
