Backroads: Further On Ahead

Backroads: Further On Ahead seeks to expand on the popular 2021 theme of "art, less traveled." This exhibit showcases works of art that venture off the beaten path, especially with regard to travel. Artwork could include places or experiences involving hidden gems, landscapes, nature, special or unusual places, wanderings, odd travel, strange encounters, and/or lost and fading places. Works may incorporate natural elements or folk/Americana themes. "Further On Ahead" is a summer exhibit and could convey a sense of summer fun in the works (not winter), and that the journey never ends. Works can be from any medium and are accepted from Emerging, Mid-Career, and/or Professional Artists.

The exhibition is open to artists over age 18 within the United States and Canada. Work should ideally have been created in the last three years and must be original artwork ready to display. The specific work must not have been previously displayed in a Vestige Concept Gallery exhibit. Work must be for sale (no "NFS" or deliberate overpricing). No Giclees or reproductions of original works will be accepted unless the work itself is a Giclee or digital. Applicants may submit up to nine entries. Two entries are included in the $27 application fee; additional entries are $5 each. Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before June 25th. Shipped works must arrive no later than July 7th, 2022. The in-person opening reception will be held Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at 6 PM. The exhibition runs July 9 - August 7, 2022.

Vestige Concept Gallery specializes in curated monthly mixed exhibition opportunities and is located in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, PA. The gallery seeks to showcase emerging and professional artist talent from across North America and sell work at affordable prices. Accepted artists must provide confirmation of acceptance, artist photo, short bio, and web/social links for promotion. Vestige Concept Gallery retains a 30% commission for any artwork sold. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery and must include a prepaid return shipping label (FedEx or UPS only). 2D work must not exceed 30 lbs including frame. Wall pieces must be securely wired, framed, and properly prepared for display. 3D work or audio/video submissions should contact the gallery first.
