About This Call

Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA), operated by the City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department, is seeking participants for its Artists in Residence (AiR) Program. The program offers eight studio spaces to individual visual, performative, and theatrical artists for a nine-month residency from October 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Through this residency, PBCAD aims to foster an environment that supports artistic growth, experimentation, and professional development. The program is intentionally flexible to encourage individuality, spontaneity, and collaboration. BaCA serves as a welcoming and inclusive space where diverse art forms, creative practices, and modes of inquiry are accepted, nurtured, and celebrated.

BaCA is located in Pompano Beach's Old Town neighborhood and has been an incubator for artistic innovation and education since 2014. The venue features over 6,000 square feet of exhibition space divided into two galleries on the first floor, with the second floor serving as the creative home of the AiR Program. The second floor additionally features an open gallery and social area for artistic dialogue, creative collaboration, and events. BaCA offers two kilns available for use by residents and for classes.

Eligibility is open to U.S. artists working in many different artistic disciplines who are at least 18 years of age and not currently enrolled in an academic program. The application fee is $25. Studios range from 96-196 square feet, with a participation fee of $250/month ($2,000 total for the nine-month residency). No fee is charged during the move-in month of September or the final month in June. Artists receive 24-hour access to affordable studio space. The application deadline is March 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. A Zoom videoconference will be held February 17, 2026, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. EST to answer questions.
