About This Call

The Wiregrass Museum of Art invites artists from across the Southeast to submit work for B26: Wiregrass Biennial, the museum's juried exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of contemporary art in the South. Since 1990, the Biennial has showcased the region's most compelling voices—artists whose work reflects both the cultural heritage and the evolving perspectives that define the modern South. For B26, WMA seeks innovative and progressive works that challenge boundaries, explore fresh ideas, and utilize a range of art forms and media. Painting, sculpture, installation, mixed media, and new media are all welcome.

The exhibition is open to artists living in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia who are 18 years or older. Each artist may submit up to three original works completed within the last three years (2022 or later). All submissions must be completed online using ArtCall and include labeled images with an image list containing title, date, dimensions, and medium, along with an artist statement and resume. The submission deadline is Friday, February 2, 2026. There is no fee to submit. Artists selected for inclusion will be notified no later than April 19, 2026.

All works must be professionally presented and ready to install by June 26, 2026. The exhibition runs July 18 – September 19, 2026 at Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan, Alabama. Participating artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of their work. All artwork must include proper packaging for return; the museum is not responsible for damage due to inadequate packaging. All works will be insured for the duration of the exhibition. Awards include one $1,000 award for first place, one $500 award for second place, one $500 award for third place, and one $1,000 award for an Alabama artist. Questions can be directed to Dana-Marie Lemmer, Executive Director & Curator.
